LLM based fine-tuned Domain Expert for Multi-document Information Retrieval
ABSTRACT
Navigating through lengthy text documents becomes a tedious task to extract relevant
information scattered across numerous pages and multiple files.
A prominent law firm sought solutions to streamline information gathering, optimize
resource utilization, and enhance case coverage efficiency. Our domain expert created
on Indian Stamp duty documents helped them achieve this task, providing them with a
virtual assistant that finds answers to all their queries using simple natural language
commands.
Clearly Define Your Business Objectives
An Indian law firm aimed to identify solutions for swiftly
extracting pertinent information from regulatory and case
documents. They sought to make this information readily
accessible to their lawyers through a user-friendly interface.
The objective was to capitalize on Large Language Models
(LLMs) to efficiently handle multitudes of long-form unstructured
text documents, thereby minimizing human hours and effort
required for information retrieval.
Acquire & Synthesize Relevant Data
We conducted the cleansing, and pre-processing of the knowledge
repository to discern interconnections among the web of documents.
Subsequently, we identified appropriate embeddings, ranking, and
retrieval mechanisms to solve the problem.
Develop an Action Plan
We undertook multiple iterations of experiments with various LLM architectures and benchmarked them to assess their performance. The process included adjusting parameters and refining the solution based on consistent human input to arrive at the most optimal outcome.
We developed the Multi-document Information Retrieval
Engine, which ingests multiple unstructured text documents to
answer user queries in simple natural language commands.
The engine allows users to make queries, ask follow up
questions, and extract their answers with the exact sources and
page-links to the retrieved information.
